Alfredo Conde Cid (Allariz, Orense province, January 6 of 1945) is a writer and Spanish politician writing in Galician and Castilian.

He was born into a middle class Galician family
. He studied at the College of Nautical Studies in La Coruna and History at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He worked as a sailor and as a history teacher in a private school. He was a deputy in the Galician Parliament as an independent in the group PSdeG (1981 - 1993) and Minister of Culture with Fernando González Laxe (1987 - 1990). He was the first president of the PEN Club de Galicia (1990 - 1991).
